Lay-led led services are an important part of Parish life and the first of our regular Lay-led services began with Geoff Taylor leading the Service of the Word
The congregation has been slowly getting back to normal with people returning over the last few months (the lovely summer weather has helped no doubt), and whilst understanably some feel their return has no rush and that there is uncertainty there – hopefully the images will help you feel reassured that the Church is progressing with a considered, inclusive approach to make sure everyone feels comfortable with attending. The congregation self-manages social distancing very well with household groups sat together, and uses protective measures.
The sermon mentioned the Afghanistan regugee crisis and the importance of doing what you can. The verses mentioned included James 2:14-26, a powerful verse focused around James’ teachings focused around how best to put faith into practice.
Lay-led services will be a feature of St Mary’s calendar going forward into the autumn, and one service per month will continue to be Lay-led.
Our churches continue to be open for private prayer.
