Can anyone get married in St. Andrew’s?

Anyone who lives within the parish of Winston has a legal right to be married in the church.  You can also get married at St Andrew’s if you have lived in the parish at some point in your life, or if you were baptised in the church.

You can also get married here if your parents have lived in the village since you were born or if either your parents or grandparents were married here.

Although same-sex marriage legislation has changed, it remains the case that it is not legally possible for same-sex couples to marry in the Church of England.  However, our churches offer friendship, prayers and support and all are welcome here.

But none of this applies to me.  Can I still get married in St Andrew’s?

Yes is the short answer.  It is possible to get married in our church if you are willing to join our electoral roll (church membership list).  In order to do so, you have to have been a regular worshipper for at least six months.

We will be happy to talk with you about the best way to fulfil this requirement in a way that makes most sense for you.
