Welcome to The Winston Bridge Spitire Story
As part of the launch of St Andrew’s new website we want to keep shining a light on fantastic local stories – The Winston Bridge Spitfire story is the first of these initiatives, telling the story of former Red Arrows Leader Ray Hanna who performed one of the most remarkable aviation feats by flying beneath storied Winston Bridge, once the bridge with the widest span in Europe. As part of this story we are sharing a selection of history articles on different aspects of flight, the Spitfire involved in this feat and drone footage to allow us to recreate the event in crisp high-definition as part of our Winston Bridge Spitfire Film, a specially commissioned feature which brings to life this remarkable story.
